Cumbersome process

I voted early this morning, and the line was really long. It took me an hour to get to vote. It seems that there has to be a more efficient way to allow people more time to express their Constitutional right. If numerous days were allowed for the Iragi people to do the same, why is that not even a consideration here in Oklahoma?

Too few sites and a cumbersome process of waiting to sign one registration book just does not seem a logical approach in 2008. Rather than helping the electorate, the process limits it. The focus should be on opportunity.

  1. Good point, Dr. Hernandez. I was lucky to get in and get out, but I think it was a fluke. I have heard of many others who had to wait as much as an hour or more.

  2. I waited 45 minutes to enter the polling place. That was only to find out that the election board combined my complicated last name. I was then informed that I could not vote because my name was not listed on the roll. Needless to say it was disheartening to hear. I believe firmly in exercising my (your) right to vote....a few agonizing minutes later I turned over my very worn voter registration card to prove I was a registered voter. What felt like a lifetime later I was exiting the polling place with a smile on my face, knowing I fulfilled part of my purpose for election day 2008.

  3. It took me 2 hours to vote this morning! When I finally got to the room where the booths were, there were 8 places total to vote, but only 2 were occupied.

There were 6 empty spots because it took the election clerks a long long time to find names and hand out ballots. It could have been much more efficient.
